Vegas Skyline – a new Mp3 From “River of Light”

Vegas Skyline is the third song on my “CD River of Light” . I like this song because it moves along quite nicely. When recording and mixing; I really wanted to showcase the 12 string guitar – played with a traditional capo on the 2 second fret and a cut capo covering the A, D, and G strings on the lower portion of the guitar at the 6th fret. This open setup enabled me to play the lead portions by strumming several strings at a time.I wrote this song actually before I visited Vegas in 2007 and it was weird when i saw a street musician in Old Town Vegas like I had written about in my song. I think the song is about many things-people in relationships or life lying to themselves saying things are fine when they are not- and discovering a person in a new relationship and dealing with their feelings and uncertainties. I think a bit of the song discusses the sadness of my first marriage- hoping somehow that it all would end..somehow….. Enjoy

Download The Difference by Ricky D. Kemery

This song was written for Janice Furtner- former music director at WBNI  – I played it for her on our last radio show together on  June 10, 2010.

The song begins with an account of how a friend helped me out in New Mexico circa 1980, then about my wife Lyn, and then Janice. I think very special people need to be told how special they really are- and how their positive attitude makes a difference in everyone’s lives.

Here is a track from my CD “River of Light”

Whiskey Blues is a song I wrote circa 1980 when I was staying at the small mining town of Madrid, New Mexico. I wrote the song sitting on an old junk Chevy looking down over the town at sunset. Enjoy!

Stay tuned for an upcoming podcast featuring all the songs on the CD!
